Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Me and Nicole went to a Royals game on Friday night, they played the Cleveland Indians and lost by one run in the last inning. This particular picture was taken during a 12 minute delay in the game because half of the lights went out above the field. This was Nicole's first Major League game and it featured the worst team in baseball and the AL Wild Card leaders.

Heartbeat!
Today was our first visit with the nurse practitioner. I caught my first glimpse of the stirrups, just another reason that I'm glad to be a man. The highlight of the visit was hearing the baby's heartbeat
, it sounded a little like someone had a piece of sheet metal and was waving it back and forth (if that makes any sense). It was kind of funny because the nurse would find a good solid heartbeat and then it would start to fade because the baby kept moving. It's heartbeat was very fast, which according to old wives-tales means it will be a girl, but we'll see. Our next appointment is the beginning of October where we'll meet with our Doctor.
Dad's Birthday!
Today was Dad's birthday. He wasn't quite looking at the camera for this shot. This is the second German Chocolate Cake we've had in 5 days...there's no place like home! If you'd like to hear the trio of Me, Nicole, and Mom sing Happy Birthday,

Mike's Birthday
Mike had a birthday party on Sunday afternoon with some of our friends. Good friends, homemade ice-cream, hamburgers, and red-velvet cake made it an enjoyable evening. We didn't get a picture of Mark and Melissa, but let it be known that they were present (along with Mom and Dad). We have compiled pictures and a short biography of those in attendance...
This is Morgan and Terri Dewey along with Morgan's "Mini-Me", a.k.a Carter. They go to our church. I went to high school with Teri and her dad is my hometeaching companion. Morgan is a former Washburn/Topeka Knights football player, and Carter can already bench press his own bodyweight.
This is Nicole and Tyler Pufahl. I've known him since I was in grade school. From the Topeka Eliminators to Shawnee Heights Basketball, and even a little T-Bird Soccer we've known each other a long time. Stay tuned for our Topeka Fit Club weblog. His wife, Nicole, helped my wife, Nicole, find her current job where they are co-workers.
Jacob and Tia Sampson. They also go to the same church as us. Tia is pregnant and offers Nicole all kinds of helpful advice, and even lends her clothes to wear. Jacob is an implant from Georgia and future millionaire. They are going to have a little girl and name her Savannah.
We had some of the young men from church come over and help us cut back some of the bushes/trees in the backyard, in exchange for use of the simming pool when they were done.
This is what it looked like as they were finishing up. As you can see Oreo was right there making sure everything was up to his expectations.
Michael and Dylan making like Edward Scissorhands. Michael is the new owner of my tuxedo that I wore for choir in high school. He is in Washburn Rural's "This Generation."

Huff-n-Puff
Nicole and I went to the annual Huff-n-Puff Balloon Festival at Lake Shawnee on Friday night. We were joined by Mark and Melissa Lingenbrink. Mark is a friend of mine from BYU, and Melissa went to
school with Nicole in Hawaii (It really is a small world). Mark and Melissa recently found out that they will be having a baby about the same time as us. We are looking forward to going through the whole pregnancy experience with good friends. At the festival there was close to 17 balloons total, and they all poppped up in a short period of time, it was really neat.
What a good looking group!

It's Mark and Melissa! They brought us a blanket to sit on, and we shared our funnel-cake with them.
Rock Chalk Jayhawks!
Lift off!
Hot air being blown in the balloon. Mike offered to blow some air in too, but they wouldn't let him.
Nice shades!
Nicole by a fire-truck. Her dad is retired Honolulu Fire Department, so she likes getting pictures in front of these.

James and Celeste's Wedding
Nicole recently went back to Hawaii for her best friend Celeste's wedding. Celeste (aka "C") married James Tanabe. The two girls on the right are Stacey (black) and Eve. Eve is married to Mike's old roommate Keli'i, she is pregnant and due the same month as Nicole. Hopefully we'll be getting some pictures soon of Nicole dancing a hula for the reception.
