We have been married for five and a half years and are blessed with two beautiful girls. Noelle is three and Maile was born in April 2009. After living in Hawaii for a year after college we made a big move to Kansas where we now live. Mike works for Sunflower Marketing
and will be attending Washburn University here in town to get his MBA. Nicole enjoys spending her days home witn Noelle. Life is good!
One of my favorite things to do is to take naps. Ever since Noelle was little I loved being able to take naps with her. I love to snuggle with her and luckily for me she likes it too. Most afternoons you can find me and Noelle sleeping on the couch. She sleeps really well at night in her bed, but naptimes are a different story. I think I like taking naps with her as much as she likes taking naps with me. I figure when more kids come along, I won't be able to take naps with her so I should enjoy it now. I have been trying to not nap when she does so I can get things done. So today after we both fell asleep I woke up and tried to slowly get up off the couch without her getting up. I was successful and couldn't resist taking a picture of Noelle sleeping peacefully on the couch.
Noelle is so sweet and peaceful when she is sleeping. One of my favorite things is to watch her sleep. I always feel so much love for her and feel so lucky to be able to have her in my life and to be her mom. She is definetly a great blessing in my life.
Noelle really enjoyed Easter this year. She had a couple of Easter egg hunts and loved putting the eggs into her basket. At first she didn't know there was anything in the eggs, but after shaking them she found the candy. Whenever she would open an egg and find some candy she would say "Oh gosh!" Her favorite candies were the Hershey kisses.
We were really excited to do an Easter egg hunt with Noelle this year since she is old enough to find the eggs herself. On Saturday afternoon Mike hid the eggs in our backyard in the bushes, branches and in the grass. Noelle had a blast!
On Friday afternoon Mike got off of work early and so we decided to go to the lake since it was a nice day. While Mike went biking and running around the lake, Noelle and I had fun playing at the playground.
The other morning when I was washing the dishes Noelle was playing with the dryer and trying to get inside. Guess who got in and closed the dryer door?
We love going to the Topeka Zoo, especially since we bought an annual pass and it is pretty close to our house. Sometimes when we go there it seems like we have the whole zoo to ourselves since no one else wants to go there in the winter. A couple of weeks ago the gorilla came right up to the glass.
Orangatangs are so smart. This orangatang stood on this container and actually unscrewed a screw out of the side of this metal thing. Then she tried to screw it into another hole she found. Fortunately, she was smart enough to not eat it.
Mike told me that he remembers his older brother Jack taking him to the zoo when he was younger. He would lift Mike up so that he would be at eye level with the giraffes and he remembers getting giraffe drool on him. Luckily, Noelle didn't get drooled on.
Feeding the goats is Noelle's favorite thing to do at the zoo. I'm a little scared of the goats; one tried to hit Noelle with its horns before at full speed. But of course Noelle still has no fear of them!
Noelle liked walking up and down the ramp to see the bears. She kept telling us "halika" which means come in Tagalog (Mike is trying to teach her Filipino). It was so cute.
Tonight for Family Home Evening we decided to plant some seeds for our vegetable and fruit garden. I am really excited about our garden, I just hope it grows! We decided to plant some watermelon, carrot, lettuce and zuchini seeds. Tonight Noelle also said her first prayer for family home evening. She did such a good job!
Noelle was very careful about putting soil into the egg carton with her spoon. She did a good job of not spilling lots of soil. There was some big, hard peices of soil that I would pick out of the egg carton so that the seeds would grow better. After watching me, Noelle put down her spoon and helped me pick out the big peices too!
