We have been married for five and a half years and are blessed with two beautiful girls. Noelle is three and Maile was born in April 2009. After living in Hawaii for a year after college we made a big move to Kansas where we now live. Mike works for Sunflower Marketing
and will be attending Washburn University here in town to get his MBA. Nicole enjoys spending her days home witn Noelle. Life is good!
This weekend we went to the "Huff and Puff" at the lake. This was our third year going to this event. It is fun to see all the huge hot-air balloons and watch them get filled up. This year it was too windy for the balloons to take off and fly away but it was still beautiful and fun to go to.
We saw lots of dogs with their owners there. Noelle would get excited and wanted to follow them around. She got to pet this cute little dog and even gave her a kiss!
It was neat to see the hot-air balloons getting filled up. We were suprised that Noelle was a little scared of the noise when they were getting filled. She usually is not afraid of many things, especially loud noises. Since it is pretty hot from the flame, you can feel the heat from pretty far away. Noelle kept saying "hot, hot" when the balloons were being filled up.
Yesterday we made some brownies for dinner. Noelle loves to help me made dinner especially brownies. She makes a huge mess, but she enjoys helping me. I let her put most of the ingredients in the bowl and let her help me mix it with the whisk. She especially liked licking the whisk with the left overs. I think we have another chocolate lover in the family!
Last night we got up to a tornado siren going off. Usually the tornado siren goes off when there has been a tornado spotted in our county. Earlier last night there were tornado warnings for some other counties. The wind was blowing really hard and I could hear things outside getting knocked down. I woke up Mike and told him I thought that the torando siren was going off. I went to turn the tv on but the power was out. That's when I got really scared and thought with all of the bad weather recently it would be our luck to have a tornado. I haven't been that scared in a long time. I was ready to get stuff for Noelle ready and get her so that we could go to a safer place. Mike decided to call his parents and see if they knew what was going on. They had power and said that they had put the tornado sirens on to warn people of the 60 to 70 mile per hour winds that were coming with the storm, but that there was no tornado. Thank goodness! I was still a little shaken up but after a while I was able to go back to sleep. I have always loved stormy weather, especially thunderstorms, but after last night I think that might change. It made me realize how powerful nature is and how insignificant we are. I am glad that we were safe and that nothing happened.
Today I decided to give Oreo a bath since he is starting to get stinky. Usually we take him to a grommer to get a bath and his hair cut but because it's so expensive, I decided that we would do it at home. Noelle enjoyed seeing Oreo is our bathtub and liked rubbing his soap on him. Unfortunately the soap was dark blue and she got it on her clothes, on the rug in the bathroom and on her. After his bath, we brushed and blow dried his hair since it's pretty thick. Noelle loved trying to blow dry and brush his hair. With Noelle's help it took a little longer, but we had fun giving him a bath!
This afternoon we went to swim at Mike's parents house. It was nice to swim since it was a pretty warm day. The water was a little chilly at first but after a while Noelle had fun swimming in the pool.
We used some water wings that Grandma Linda had at her pool. At first Noelle was a little nervous about floating their by herself. But after a while she enjoyed being able to swim by herself.
When Noelle was playing in her car I asked her if she could get me some bread from the store. A little while later she pretended to give me something from her car. I was suprised that she is starting to play pretend! I am so excited to start playing pretend with her.
We have started to play outside more often since the weather has gotten a little cooler. I showed Noelle how Oreo fetches the stick when I throw it. She had a blast trying to throw the stick. The stick didn't go that far but Oreo had fun bringing the stick back to her.
