    Turkey Bowl

This is a picture of those who participated in the Kailua Turkey Bowl. For those of my friends on the Mainland, it sure was rough waking up to a beautiful, sunny morning of football. Posted by Hello

That's Rick Pitino, Louisville coach. This turned out to be a pretty good game. When I called in to order tickets the lady must have thought I was from Kentucky, because that's where our tickets had us sitting. We had a boisterous lady behind us that kept saying some obnoxious things about Mormons. Nicole and I were going to see if she wanted to meet the missionaries, but decided that she probably wouldn't be up to it. Posted by Hello

    Morgan's Update From China

OK, so when I looked at my email and saw the topic of "Name game", I was totally thinking you guys were pregnant and looking for good ideas for names!! Anyways, how are you guys doing! Are you so bored that you can't think of a good name for your car! I'd have to see a picture of the car before giving any good suggestions. Over here I can't seem to get on your web page.

Well, I'm traveling around China with aaron osetler. It was actually pretty conveinent to meet up with him. We've been on the road now for about a week. It has been really fun. First we went to a place in South West CHina called Yunnan province. We spent 2 days in the capital city called KUnming. That was a sweet town and if I were tocome back to China I would definately recommend that place. Yunnan is famous for having lots of different ethnic groups. We went way far to the south next to Mynamar and Laos and it seriously felt like we were in a different country. the main minority group is called Dai. They have lots of similiarities to Thailand'ers. We went hiking in the rain forrest and also went and saw an elephant show!! It was sweet. I got to ride a freaking elephant!!

The 2nd day we were their aaron was feeling sick so he stayed in but I went to a place kind of like the Polynesian Cultural Center except for some of the minority groups here. One of the activities I went to was to see a wedding ceremony of the Aini people. I thought it would be cool to just checkit out but I actually became part of the ceremony. The way they have their wedding is men sit in one room and then all the women come in and grap thier husband to be. Then they have the wedding ceremony. Well, I had a hottie come get me!! She told me that when I went back to the states not to forget I had a wife in Xi-Shuang-Ban-Na. THat's the name of this region. Anyways, it was pretty sweet!!!!!!!!

Now I"m in a place called LiJiang. It's famous for having this ancient city that hasn't been affected by outside influence for hundreds of years. The architechture is cool but all the shops in it have been westernized. It's still sweet looking but not as cool as we were hoping for. It's on top of the tibetan plateau so it's freezing here which is completely opposite of where we just came from. It was sub tropical climate at the place way down south. Right now we are also super close to the Tibetan world and a place called Shagri-La. That is tibetan but is only about a 2 hour bus ride from here. I don't think we are going that far north as it is even colder up their. But it's still cool to just be close to these areas. Maybe if I hadn't already gotten a taste for the Tibetan culture I would go but I already saw that stuff up in Northern Sichuan. The plan for me is to go check out the east coast when we're done with Yunnan. I gotta see the big cities. I think I've seen enough of good ole mother nature to last me for a while. It will be interesting to check out the other side of china, the developing big city side. Well, that's my update.

    Talk to you later!!!!!!!!

    Update in Words

I just received an e-mail from Mr. James Lambert wherein he lamented that I should write more concerning things here in Hawaii. This is something that I've been meaning to do, so thanks James for giving me the motivation.

I recently talked about how poor the basketball team is here, and how much I missed KU basketball. James wrote that he went to the Arizona midnight madness and people got mad at him for wearing a Kansas shirt that I gave him awhile back, props to James.

Louisville is actually coming to town to play an exhibition game against BYU-Hawaii this coming Saturday. Nicole and I are going to watch it. The Maui Classic is coming up too, but flying to another island isn't in our budget at the time, maybe next year.

James and Adam both voted for John Kerry. James campaigned actively for him. It was interesting to hear that people were more interested as to why Adam voted for Kerry then this mysterious girl that he "wanted but didn't like." Politics is a funny thing, and so is Adam.

Nicole and I recently went to a state football playoff game. Kahuku, a school with a lot of Mormons on it, played Mililani. It was awesome. Both teams would have destroyed my high school team, the mighty Thunderbirds of Shawnee Heights. One thing that I learned was that wherever you go cheerleaders have the same cheers. You would have thought I was actually a Kahuku Red Raider by the way I was keeping up with the cheers. It didn't even matter that I was a scrawny white guy amidst a predominantly Polynesian crowd. Before Kahuku football games they do the haka in front of the other team, probably as an act of intimidation. It made me think of the time Creighton and James did their version of the "Haka" at James' birthday a couple of years ago.

I talked to Sherman yesterday, he has a blog too. He has one for the Young Mens organization too, where he is advertising for a book he wrote, just scroll to the very bottom of his blog. For anyone who knows Sherman, you should check them out.

So far, Hawaii has treated us good. More updates to come...
